If I could live in a coffee, tea or chocolate shop, I would! Hi, my name is Suk-yi, full-time caffeine lover, wife, mother, environmentalist and world citizen. I would like to extend a warm welcome to my fellow caffeine lovers. This is The Caffeine Trifecta, a business I started as a community and resource celebrating the love of all things coffee, tea and chocolate. I am so happy and excited to see you here – please come join me on a caffeine adventure!
How did it all begin?
I was born in Malaysia. Being of Chinese descent, I grew up surrounded by tea. One of my earliest and most enduring memories of tea is with my maternal grandfather, who is a big tea lover. Every morning without fail, he would brew a pot full of thick black “liu bao” tea. He still does it today, at the ripe old age of 90! Everyone in the household would enjoy it throughout the day, including me. There is nothing expensive about the tea, but the taste is rich, mellow and earthy all melded into one.
To this day, tea always reminds me of my grandfather, my family and the culture in which I grew up in. Every day, for me, has a cup of tea in it. Tea is a way to pause and reset myself, to refuel and ground myself through the rituals of brewing and steeping tea. Tea is a way of life, bringing love, happiness, comfort and memories to me.
And then later…
In my late twenties, I moved to London which exposed me to the Western way of drinking tea. Tea is an entirely different experience for the English, and no less essential to daily life. Treated with respect and reverence, anything can be fixed or made better somehow by putting the kettle on and having a cup of tea!
In London, I met my husband and I eventually settled down with him in Melbourne. I was never a big coffee drinker till I moved to Melbourne. With such a vibrant coffee culture, it was easy to eventually fall in love with the excellent coffee here (not that I put up much resistance!).
While not the original home of coffee, Australians have a relationship with our beloved hot rich beverage that is infectious and so much fun to adopt. We are a nation of caffeine lovers; no one in the world adores or celebrates coffee quite like us! And now, I can’t imagine not having my daily coffee.
And what about chocolate? I love to indulge in dark chocolate, be it classic flavours like sea salt or other more unique flavour pairings. And a cup of steaming hot chocolate on a cold winter’s day, always warms me up all the way to my toes (and my heart)!
So, you get that I am a caffeine lover, but how did this evolve into my own beloved business?
The idea for The Caffeine Trifecta germinated as I stood on the cusp of a milestone birthday. Milestone birthdays are useful because they help us take stock of our lives (as well as scaring us a little bit – am I right?). I decided to follow my passion of starting a dream business. A business to bring together the world of coffee, tea and chocolate in a single location, for the convenience of caffeine lovers similar to me who are short on time but big on passion.
And this is how The Caffeine Trifecta was born. A community and meeting place for coffee lovers, tea lovers and chocolate lovers. A gathering of kindred caffeine lovers to showcase all things related to coffee, tea and chocolate. A conduit to share stories behind businesses featured here and their personal caffeine journeys.
We strive to be a place where you can Treat Yourself
We live in a busy and demanding world. It’s easy to get caught up in the hectic day-to-day cycle. And often what happens is we put ourselves last in the list of important things to take care of.
Making yourself a priority doesn’t have to be a time-consuming luxury. I would love for The Caffeine Trifecta to be the place where you come to step back from the busyness of life. This is the place to find and appreciate the beauty of simple things – good quality coffee, tea or chocolate – to recharge our minds, bodies and souls.
The Caffeine Trifecta is…
The moments in between clients, projects, assignments, meetings and picking up kids. The times when you need a breather, and you stop and stand in front of your favourite barista. You inhale the intoxicating and replenishing coffee aroma while your signature drink is being brewed to go.
The time you spend to steep some good quality fresh tea leaves full of big flavour. The time you take to slowly sip from a vintage china teacup and saucer, or beloved, sturdy and stained mug.
The ten minutes silence at the end of the day when the house has finally gone quiet. You are not yet acknowledging the size of the piles of laundry and dirty dishes. Instead, you choose to mindfully nibble on and sumptuously savour the good quality dark chocolate that you are hiding from everyone else in the house.
Caffeine lovers, let us go on an adventure together!
I hope The Caffeine Trifecta will be the first place you think of, when you need information on where to get a caffeine hit, or what type of coffee, tea or chocolate to savour.
Take a wander around and explore our little village, check out the shop and meet some of the inhabitants. And if there is something you would love to see celebrated here, definitely get in touch and let me know.
May we have a wonderful caffeine journey together!
Wishing you a great day,
